To provide for alternative food provision that meets the religious, cultural and lifestyle requirements of all offenders.
Alternative options may be ordered for an offender if there is a religious or cultural requirement.
If an offender wishes to obtain a food provision on the basis of cultural, religious or lifestyle reasons the individual offender must apply through the general manager of the facility.
Individual food provision requested on the basis of cultural, religious or lifestyle reasons should be considered on a case-by-case basis by the general manager of the facility refer Corrective Services Act 2006 (CSA) ss 3, 266.
Alternative meals for cultural, religious or lifestyle reasons requests should be forwarded to the General Managers of the centre for approval then to the Food Services Supervisor/Manager for action.
Alternative food provision based on cultural, religious or lifestyle requirements and approved by the General Manager of the centre must be recorded in IOMS under personal details.
Non standard food provision based on cultural or religious requirements and approved by the General Manager of the centre must be recorded in IOMS. offender file window >.file contents>details>personal details>special
Notification of alternative food provision for clinical reasons is approved by Offender Health Services and forwarded in writing by the Queensland Health Nurse Unit Manager or delegate to the Food Services Supervisor/Manager for action. The Food Services Supervisor/Manager or delegate is responsible for recording the dietary requirement on IOMS.
Nutritional supplements for offenders may be available through the facilities buy up (refer procedure - Offender Purchasing). Purchase of nutritional supplements through the buy up system is at the discretion of the General Manager.
