2nd March - With Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders comprising 75 per cent of its offender population, the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre near Mareeba in far north Queensland was an appropriate location for the inaugural meeting of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Justice Taskforce in early February.

No ordinary move -- Borallon prison transition
1st March - On 18 July 2011 an official Parliamentary announcement was delivered to staff at the Borallon Correctional Centre stating the centre would be closed and that the prisoner population would be transferred to the newly built, state-of-the-art Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC) - a 35-minute drive west of Borallon.

New centre for justice at Cherbourg
1st March - The opening of the Allan Douglas Community Justice Centre in Cherbourg in late 2011 provides the community with a multi-functional local justice centre used by the Kingaroy District Office on a weekly basis in its attempt to close the gap in Indigenous over-representation.
