In line with policies of best practices, research has become an increasingly important component of the everyday running of the Queensland Corrective Services.
Established in the early 1990's, the agency's formal research capacity is now found in Research Services.
Research Services is responsible for coordinating external research within the agency for post-graduate university students, university staff and other research facilities such as the Australian Institute of Criminology. The unit assists in maintaining close ties with these organisations to ensure that the agency is fully abreast of latest global findings in the field of corrections.
The Queensland Corrective Services' (QCS) Research Committee is responsible for examining and determining the eligibility of applications received from academic and non-academic researchers to conduct research that involves the use of the Agency's facilities, subjects and resources.
The QCS Research Committee is committed to endorsing ethically sound research initiatives that strive to further the Agency's commitment to community safety and crime prevention.
