Types of documents available outside the FOI process

  • Personnel files - Requests for historical or biographical information concerning current or former employees should be referred to Queensland Corrective Services Human Resources Branch in the first instance. Many requests can be handled without needing to make an FOI access application.
  • Court briefs (QP 9)
  • Crime reports
  • Criminal history (Queensland only)

Some of these documents may be held by QCS, but requests should be made in the first instance to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (prosecution files) or to the Queensland Police Service (for criminal histories). Court files are also available to the parties to the matter, and may be available to the general public.

Transcripts of trials and sentencing can be obtained from the Court Reporting Bureau. There will be a charge for access.

For further information regarding access to documents held by the Queensland Corrective Services please refer to the Statement of Affairs (PDF).
